What I've done today:

  • Dropped BabyGirl off at one cousin's house to be baby sat by RL while she & J watched other cousin's kids.
  • Purchased BabyGirl's birthday presents, wrapping paper, and cake makings. Wednesday is the big day...she'll be 6.
  • Stopped by the feed store & got calf feed & milk replacer. Marveled at how very pregnant feed store's resident cat is.
  • Met up with RL & kids at the playground. Dropped off Husband and boys (with instructions that should Husband misbehave, she could discipline him as needed), and headed back to Wal-Mart.
  • Grocery shopped in total peace & tranquility (except for the fact that nearly a third of the population of the county was also shopping at Wal-Mart today.
  • Went back to playground & retrieved family (*see story below).
  • Went to second feed/farm supply store & purchased dog food, rabbit food, and layer crumbs for chickens (well, I waited in the van while Husband did this).
  • Came home, fixed dinner, hid birthday gifts (considered never telling BabyGirl we were done unloading the van so she'd stay quietly in her room), and started evening chores...
  • Washed dishes.
  • Made potted meat for Husband's lunch tomorrow (Ugh...but he likes it).
  • Cleaned fish bowl so QM can't lay guilt trip on me.
  • Washed towels & colored clothes & BabyGirl's sneakers.
  • Picked up kitchen (that I vacuumed & mopped last night due to a serious Goldfish incident (as in crackers, not the residents of above mentioned fish bowl).
  • Searched out, washed, & refilled all sippy cups.
  • Cut weeds from around impatiens...that aren't really growing well.
  • Let kids play outside for all of 15 minutes before rain began.
  • Bathed & PJ'ed kids.
  • Read 15 blogs.
  • At too many powdered sugar covered mini-donuts.

Still Must:

  • Make Pasta salad.
  • Get clothes arranged for tomorrow for kids & myself.
  • Pack up bag of toys/books to entertain said children.
  • Shower.
  • Sleep.

I think I deserve a round of applause. I'm not even nesting.

*********

*When I picked Husband and kids up from the playground today, they were hot, tired, and the kids were arguing. When we got to the second feed store, Husband went in alone. I asked the kids what they'd done (to distract them from the ongoing argument of the moment). #1 Son informed me they played on the red playground, played on the yellow playground, and walked to the troll bridge. The city park has a small covered bridge that spans a ditch (the kids call it a river). The kids call it the troll bridge.

"There was a dead squirrel by the bridge. Daddy threw it in the river with a stick."

Really?

"Yeah, and something pooped in the troll bridge. I think it was the squirrel & then it died."

That's gross.

"Yeah, Daddy made us leave."

Good.

When Husband returned to the van I said, "I hear you threw a dead squirrel in the river after it pooped on the troll bridge." Husband said he did push the squirrel into the ditch to keep it away from the kids, but the poop was a different story. Apparently someone (as in a person) had defecated in the covered bridge at the playground & wiped themselves with a sock which they also left in the bridge.

REALLY PEOPLE....WAS THAT NECESSARY? IT'S A PLAYGROUND! SMALL CHILDREN GO THERE TO HAVE FUN!!! GET A GRIP!

Oh, and B.B. busted his lower lip when he pitched over the handle bar on the see-saw at the play ground and hit his mouth on the board. Poor guy. No strawberries for him today. They make his lip sting.
