Party!

Yesterday was a good day. There were moments when I wanted to crawl back into bed & never come out, but since during the most memorable of those moments I was not only 3 1/2 hours from home with a van full of fighting kids, it wasn't exactly possible. In the long run, I'm glad I stuck it out.

Yesterday was Grandma & Grandpa M&M's 60th Wedding Anniversary party at a beautiful park near their home (hence the road trip). Very few people knew for sure that I was coming (Grandma & Grandpa were not among them...that was fun) because I left my decision for the last minute. I wanted to be sure I was up for the trip (3 hours there & three back in one day with all the kids & no Husband). It still amazes me that they've been married for 60 years. Not only that, but I'd stake the farm on the fact that they are still as in love today as they were 60 years ago. They still hold hands. He still kisses her goodbye before he leaves. It's really beautiful. I love them so much.

When I pulled up Grandpa said, "Well, I didn't expect you'd be here!" I got to see QM & Daddy, Princess, Big Daddy Axl, H.T. (who was happy to see this auntie...and she needed that), SilverBelle & Uncle Greenteeth, Bubba, and Inkling & Henry David!! It was so good to see Inkling...to hug her....cry with her...see her in the flesh. I have missed her so very much. I wish our visit could have been longer, but hey, I'll take what I can get. Leaving her was tough. She was holding H.T. and crying a little as we pulled out of the parking lot...but we left with a promise of a visit from her "near Halloween" that the kids are already anticipating.

Got to visit with Inkling's family (her folks, brothers, their wives, Lulu, & Puff...who are the spitting image of her Younger Brother '81...adorable!), J.G. (Silverbelle's youngest), my family, and Henry David. I didn't meet HD until his & Inkling's wedding & that really wasn't a day for visiting. I knew from the things she's told me, and the changes I've seen in her over the past year+ that HD was a good man. Yesterday I found that out first hand. He really has a gift for meeting you where you are. He could set down and talk to anyone at anytime and be genuinely interested in them. Not everyone can do that.

I wish I could have stayed longer as Grace & her brood were going to be there, but I had to drive a LONG way home & she wasn't going to get there until after I had to be on the road. I did leave her a small gift & was happy that she'd get to spend some time with Inkling & Inkling with the Sara Orange Gang. I only wish I could have seen that reunion! Oh well. Such is life.

Today I'll get to show my fat boy nephew off at church (if Princess makes it...they got away later than I did to head back this way). I'm wondering if we're going to permanently damage HT by calling him Fat Boy all the time...but he is fat. He's so precious! The child has no knees...he's just fat! I love it! And QM has lost her mind....apparently his toys had a murder trial in the car on the way to Illinois. And another toy has multiple personality disorder when QM is playing with him...I wonder about her sometimes. But HT loves it, so it's all good.

Have a good day today! I intend to!

I'm so glad you got to see Inkling, and celebrate such a special milestone with your grandparents and family.

Now stay off your feet and get some rest before Bitsy comes!

Three hours is a long way there and back, and as pregnant as you are makes it an amazing trip. You must have really wanted to be there!

I don't blame you. Sixty years is a big milestone. They sound so sweet, and getting to see everyone must have been wonderful. Take care.

That's the sad part of getting together. . . saying goodbye, but it's oh, so worth it.

So glad to hear HD really is worthy of her. =)

And I would buy tickets to see that reunion if I could!
