Purple for a royal occasion. The Queen Mother has joined the rank and file of blogging family and friends! Imagine my surprise to receive the email this morning complete with her link. There isn't much their yet, but she's just beginning and unlike Silver Belle, Queen Mother doesn't have a computer whiz son home on Christmas break to help her get started. :) Please drop by and pay your respects. We wouldn't want to upset the Queen.
B.B.'s New Year's resolution: Never let my mother sleep a full night again. Apparently I've gotten lazy and need to be reminded that having a new baby includes sleep deprivation. So B.B. has graciously volunteered to get me used to functioning without sleep again. He was awake from shortly after 1 am until about 3 am this morning. He didn't want to lay in his bed. He wanted the blanket Q.M. made for #1 Son. He wanted his pillow to set in the middle of the living room floor. He wanted me to rock him in the arm chair. He wanted me to wear my glasses. When I refused, he got very opinionated. It was not fun. Now I'm tired...
We're having Chili for lunch today. No, I am not posting a picture of it, Art. If you don't be nice to me, I'm calling you to sing the Banana Boat Song again. And if you don't post about that soon, I will.
As for the gun toting children, I realize some of you may find the images disturbing. I'm sorry. I loved the idea that they were all so thrilled with the idea of "hunting" with their daddy. Yes, we have guns in our house. Yes, Farm Boy likes to hunt. I was raised with guns in the house. My dad and many of my uncles hunted. This is nothing new to me. I would rather my kids be raised with guns than develop an unhealthy fascination with them because they were forbidden. We keep them safely tucked away.
Lauren, tell your husband he may not buy Baby Bear a gun...she's a baby. But,I bought Husband the b.b. gun for Christmas one year (it was very A Christmas Story around here) because he kept joking about getting one for Baby Girl for her second birthday. It was one of those, "Let's get it for the baby, but it'll really be mine," kind of things. So he has a b.b. gun that I love to shoot. Daddy gave me his old .22 last fall. I'm not great with it yet, but I'm a half way decent shot.
School started today. Baby Girl was all ready and willing to go until her dad told her she couldn't wear a sweat shirt jacket to school. He pulled out her winter coat, and the melt-down commenced. It didn't end before they got in the truck and headed down the drive. I'm just hoping she comes home happy. She wanted to see all her friends, so that may be our saving grace.
Oh...I watched The Devil Wears Prada last night. I loved it. I must watch it again tonight. I think I may begin channeling Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly with her quiet reign of terror. If only I could instill the same kind of terror in my subordinates (i.e. children). Now I want to read the book as the movie is very different (or so the special features imply).

Loved TDWP. Do you watch Ugly Betty? I absolutely love it. I hate that it's on opposite "The Office" which I also love.
i typed a nice big response, and then the stupid verification image didn't show up so it wouldn't let me post.
anyway, i was half joking in my melodramatic moment about the gun. i really think the pics are cute.
the irnoic thing is we have 3 or 4 guns in our house, but hubby doesn't hunt. he says he froze in the cold in wi when he was 11 or 12, and never got into it. but i always know i can get him a gift card to the shooting range if i need a gift idea!
