Life in my bubble

They say Ignorance is Bliss. I think they might be right.

I rarely watch the news. I don't go searching for news on the web. I don't listen to much radio. Weeks can go by without me knowing what's gone on in the outside world. To an extent, I like it.

People ask me how I feel about the H1N1 vaccine & I say, "I dunno'." I know it's a shot. I know it's for the flu formerly known as Swine Flu. I know they keep pushing it on the public, but I'm under the impression it's not that easy to get around here.

A few minutes ago I had to Google Fort Hood because I saw someone's Status Update on Facebook & didn't understand it.

When Michael Jackson died, I missed all the media hype & news coverage.

When the little boy supposedly went up in the weather balloon, I was blessedly in the dark.

I don't know what's going on with the stock market.

I have no opinion on the latest insider trading scandal.

I don't even know what Mary Kay LeTourneau is up to these days.

I may not know what's going on around me, but I do know that it's much more peaceful in my bubble than it ever is on MSNBC.

I so agree! I get my news through my DH and that's just fine by me. I stopped watching after 9/11. It was just too much for me.

Amen! Ever since we cut cable a few years back, my life has been much more simple and satisfying with not having who Jennifer Anniston is dating and where they think Osama Bin Laden is hiding thrown in my face all day long.

On a side note, I got my H1N1 vaccine today and I'm still living.

I so agree...I get my fill of kid TV! When it's not on that, I turn it off. Well with the exception of my few guilty pleasures (which is definitely not MSNBC)!!! :)

AMEN!!! I am so sick of being made to feel that I'm some sort of idiot for not being glued to a media device all day long to be constantly fed news.

PS - the kids got their 1st round of H1N1 vaccines Thursday, and are fine, even being in the midst of drugs for sinus infections. I got mine Friday morning, and aside from a sore arm, I'm alright.

Go with your gut on the vaccine...if the kids don't get "seasonal flu" shots, I wouldn't get this one...but I'm a bit crazy that way - being all reckless... :D
