This morning did not go well in regards to the challenge. BabyGirl was in a foul mood & decided moving like she was mired in molasses was appropriate. It was not. When it's snowy, they have to leave early since snow plows rarely come near our house. She saw no need to speed up at all & decided instead to take as long as possible to do anything.
I had been on line all morning since Bitsy was up long before anyone else. BabyGirl was supposed to be brushing her teeth, but was not. Husband got snippy at me for messing on the computer (which I admittedly should not have been doing, even if my crops needed harvesting...My Farm, part of my Facebook addiction) instead of keeping on top of BabyGirl, and I got snippy right back at him. At 7 1/2 years old I don't feel I should have to stand over her all morning, but this morning that was what was necessary.
Unfortunately we have yet to figure out how to deal with one and other when we're irritated with the children & in a hurry. So we spent 20 minutes this morning picking at each other. It didn't help. Nothing moved faster & we were both irritated by the time they got out the door. Instead of BabyGirl being the problem, all three of us were.
I need to work on this.

I like "insead of BabyGirl being the problem, all three of us were."
What insight!
I must also confess that my husband and I got into a spat about our daughter's sleeping habits. He's got horrible sleep patterns, and I just don't have it in me to calmly take criticism/advice from someone who doesn't sleep well himself. Sigh. It has blown over now, as we agreed to not argue about it. Of course, that meant we agreed not to speak for the rest of the evening either...but our conversation wouldn't have lasted much longer otherwise, since he needed to go to bed! (And he's in a different time zone)
