Rockin' On & Flakin' Out

Some how I missed Needles granting me Rockin' Girl Blogger status last month. I'm very excited about this (although I feel like a big dork for missing it when she did it to begin with) as it feeds even more into my ego maniacal tendencies.

I feel the need to share the love, so I hereby grant Rockin' Girl Blogger status to The Mominator for sharing stories of Wonder Boy that help me to remember I'm not alone with a wild child...I swear, he and B.B. are one in the same. To Zann for sharing What She's Learned Today with us, creating bacon tattoos, and helping #1 Son get a good night's sleep. And finally to Art the Omnipotent for making me laugh on a daily basis, listening to me gripe about nothing at all, and generally being very Art. Rock on ladies, rock on!

I am having an If You Give a Mom a Mop day. Yesterday I was looking for a small spiral journal Art gave me for Christmas last year. When I couldn't find it I went into mega-purge mode & started trashing things. When I'd filled an entire trash can with my children's art work (BAD MOM) I decided to stop. In the process I unearthed an entire counter top I'd forgotten existed.

When we moved into this house I was over joyed at the sight of my kitchen. It had easily three times the cabinet and counter space. I thought I'd never have to leave a single appliance setting on the counter as opposed to our old house where everything sat out...although with the minute amount of counter space we had, I'm not sure how I managed that at all. I have one set of cabinets on the far side of my kitchen that hold only seldom used appliances, maps, flashlights, candles, church shoes bike helmets, an old DVD player, and the kids art supplies. Yes, all that in kitchen cabinets. Strange, I know. But the cabinet and counter top had turned into a gigantic catch all & was making me crazy. Today it is clean & organized. The only things on it are my cook books (prettily arranged & organized), an unopened box of Puffs, and my hand held vacuum.

This major cleaning job spurred me on to disassemble my stove & clean it, keep all the dishes washed as they are used (foreign idea to me), bake cookies, move everything that lives on my counters and clean under them, and even put away the clean dishes (yet another foreign idea). The problem is, I can't stay focused on one task long enough to finish. I need to channel this, or I'll end up with a half cleaned fridge, one stove burner working, and 14 loads of clothes washed but nothing put up.

Unlike Husband who used the much needed rain (thank the Lord, rain, finally!) to wash my van, Little BIL's truck, and the front of our house today. That man can stay on task like nobody's business. I guess that's the whole male vs female multi-tasking debate rearing it's ugly head again.

As Inkling would say, Oy.

Oh, and if anyone out there is interested in collaborating on a recipe sharing blog, please let me know. I'm sick to death of the same 4 casseroles & spaghetti every week.

I have the same focusing problem... And I also have those "crazy" moments when the whole house (it's a little one though) gets an unexpected cleaning attack...

I think it's because we are a lot more anxious than men to get everything done, properly and rapidly, that we tend to start things before finishing others..

I'm into recipe thing..count me in

as for the tasks..sometimes I have to make up a to do list to keep me focused. (LOL..had to do one today for all of J/M stuff)I try and stay in that one room until it's finished before moving on. I may stop momentarily to check on the washer/dryer. But after that I have to go back to the room I was in and make sure it was finished.

I do light cleaning and then I get a bur up my bum and decide I need a deep cleaning. (that means furniture rearranging or kitchen cabinets being gutted and cleaned, with closets and bedroom closets

I am SO glad you all suffer from the cleaning frenzy disease! I've discovered a WONDERFUL (for me) system...but it's a whole post worth, so hit my site, and I'll babble on about it over there.

And I'm in for the recipes too! Although...I recently found an awesome company, Homemade Gourmet, that sells fantastic things with great recipes that are easy and fast, and pretty darn cheap!!! See my blog for that and a link too!
