Quick Tip

The Queen Mother (all hail the Queen Mother) sent me an email a few weeks ago with a cleaning tip someone had sent her. At first I was sceptical, as I usually am with things received in emails, but figured it was worth a try. So today, instead of my usual Comet Spray and Snow-Bol toilet cleaner, I used shampoo.

The email suggested that shampoo is perfectly suited to use as a bathroom cleaner as it is formulated to break down dirt and oil. I had tried it in the toilets last week, but just used it on the tubs, shower, and sinks today. I was pleased with the results. I did have to do a little spot cleaning with the Comet on the tough spots (i.e. Husband's shower floor...it gets very nasty, very quickly, and doesn't come clean easily), but for the most part, the shampoo did the trick. And I don't have to worry about residue left in the tub when I go to bathe the kids tonight, or breathing funky fumes while I'm pregnant. It only takes a few drops to clean the toilet and sink, and just a little more to scrub the bathtub and shower. It even worked on the shower doors. I must say my toilets have stayed cleaner since starting this. It's much easier to grab the shampoo out of the shower than the toilet cleaner and gloves from under the kitchen sink...and I'm all about easy.

A bottle of Suave Daily Cleansing would go a long way and has to be cheaper than the bottles and bottles of bathroom cleaner I have to buy. I bought Husband a bottle of it (it's his usual brand) but he said they changed it, and he doesn't like it. I figure this way we'll get rid of it faster. In my bathroom, I used my hodge-podge bottle (the dredges of past bottles mixed together so not to waste it).

They have indeed changed it. That's the stuff I used to get, and when I recently bought the 'new' stuff, it wasn't as good.

But I bet it is perfect for cleaning. Woo-hoo!

Wow... that's pretty cool! I may just have to try it.
