A little color on this dreary day.
The talent show was a smashing success! Baby Girl said her line clearly and perfectly into the microphone, not screaming it so you couldn't understand it, and waiting until the audience was quiet so they could hear her. Half the kids couldn't be understood because they yelled, or weren't close enough to the microphone, or just got too excited...but not my baby! No, she acted like she'd done it every day of her life.
And the Christmas Party was fun...if loud, but then that's what happens when you have 28 five & six year olds clamoring for their presents. Each kid brought a small ($3-$5) gift for a child of the same sex. They numbered the gifts and then each kid picked a number and got the corresponding present. Baby Girl got a pony set, lip balm, and hair ties (all the boys were very disappointed in her present, but she was the first girl to open a gift). She gave a My Little Pony. The girl who got it was thrilled. "Thanks Baby Girl! You're my friend now!" They were already friends, but you know how it is when you're 5.
We had the kids make Christmas cards out of construction paper to give to whomever they chose. I got one from Baby Girl, her New Boyfriend, and another boy I was helping at her table. I felt very popular.
Now I'm wiped out. I think I'll pop in Ant Bully and try to catch a short nap on the couch...
