What did that just say?

Husband bought B.B. a Backyardigans Sing-A-Long Music Maker for his second or third birthday. It has 5 buttons, each with a different character from the show that plays a different style of music. For example, Tyrone's button plays Salsa music. Each button plays a song from the show on the first press & a short sample of the style of music it's an example of.

Pablo, the blue penguin's button plays Rock. On the first push, Pablo shouts, "Hi! I'm Pablo. Let's rock!" and the Soccer Monster song plays. On the second push, Pablo shouts, "Are you ready to rock 'n roll?!" and the instrumental sample starts blaring.

First of all, the toy has no volume knob. Volume knobs are a necessity on any toy that plays music. That is a simple fact. OK, so maybe that's just my opinion, but this toy has no volume controls & plays the music loudly. What's a nice, mid-volume song at Wal-Mart becomes a blaring headache when you get it home.

Secondly, it doesn't have to finish playing the song when the button is pushed before you can start another song. Therefore you can listen to 3 seconds of one button & immediately switch to 2 seconds of the next & 7 seconds of the third. It's a tad irritating.

Today Bitsy latched on to it & pushed buttons rapidly & excitedly. The result? Pablo shouting, "Are you...Hi!"
