Sunday adventures.

We've just returned from a day of adventuring. Last Sunday MIL invited us to go out to lunch with them today at their favorite Amish buffet in Effin'bill. They were meeting up with a cousin of MIL's that I've never met. I forgot all about the invite until yesterday when MIL came over on her four wheeler to ask Husband if we wanted to go. I told him it was up to him, but with Bitsy being indecisive about being sick I wasn't sure we'd make it.

Bitsy woke up happy & healthy today, so we packed up & headed south. We hit up two pet stores (a must when ever we go to Evansville) and nearly came home with a parakeet....well, maybe nearly isn't the right word. I want one. I've wanted one for a long time. My want for a bird was increased by leaps & bounds last summer on vacation when we got to go into a cage with 200 parakeets at Kentucky Down Under. They had some beautiful birds & some fabulous cages & Bitsy was loving them almost as much as I was.

But I kept my head about me. I don't want one bird in a crappy plastic cage. I want two in a big, beautiful metal cage with all the bells & whistles to keep them happy. I want the time to spend getting the birds acustomed to me & I can't do that now. So they stayed at the store & I will continue to dream of them until my kids are older & need a tad less constant supervision.

We met FIL, MIL, and SIL at the restaurant shortly after noon. I met MIL's cousin P for the first time. She & her husband (who couldn't make it today) have ten kids. Nine of the ten came with her, the oldest being married with a small baby at home. Her kids were so well behaved & she was so nice (not that this was a huge surprise) and we had a very nice visit. Plans have been made to get the kids all together this summer at the park so they can run & play. One of P's boys, who's a year older than BabyGirl, became fast friends with our three oldest. They were reluctant to part except for the promise of a carousel ride at the mall.

Husband took the FarmHands on 3 trips on the carousel while I looked the other way to keep from getting motion sickness. Bitsy rode with them once, and spent the rest of the time hollering, "Whee! Up! Down!" until I took her into the Yankee Candle shop. Then she discovered the "smell every candle in the store twice" game. That was great fun until a baby came in in a stroller. Then the candles went out the window & she spent the rest of our time hollering, "Bay-bay! BAAAAAY-BAAAY!" And then there was the heavily tattooed man shopping with his girlfriend. Bitsy caught sight of his arms & started pointing & oooooh-ing. I was confused at first until I saw the art on his arms. He was watching to see what I'd do & I think I surprised him when I said, "Oh yeah, Bitsy. He has tattoos! Aren't they pretty?" To which my daughter nodded enthusiastically & tried to say "pretty."

On the way home we hit up Rural King to check out the baby chicks but left with two new rose bushes & new boots for all the FarmHands. I was only after boots for Bitsy, but Husband said B.B.'s were too small & BabyGirl said hers were too big....in the end, they all ended up with boots.

Now we're home, tired, eating dinner, and then heading off to bed. I have to have BabyGirl & #1 Son at the dentist at 8 am & it's a 45 minute drive from here. Yeah me.

Hello! Thanks for your comments about the scarf! I've also known awanderingheart a while (from college!) (did you happen to go to college with her too???) I wish I could go to an Amish buffet! I've never even heard of one, but I bet it was wonderful. P.S. I do have a shop on etsy (fabulosew.etsy.com) but I don't have anything listed on it...still making things to put on there. I just LOVE etsy! The scarf was made out of flannel and I embroidered the "S" with my sewing machine. Thank God for Home Shopping Network! :)

Love your blog...I want to be a Farmie!
