In an effort to keep myself sane on this snow day without the snow, I will now submit for your reading pleasure a Holiday version of the Getting to Know me Meme (it's actually an email).
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper. There will be one gift bag under the tree. It's for Bitsy's doll diaper bag.
2. Real or fake tree? Fake. I'd love to have real, but Husband is afraid of sap on the carpet & needles in the kids feet.
3. When do you put up a tree? A week or a bit longer after Thanksgiving.
4. When do you take it down? Usually between Christmas & New Years.
5. Do you like eggnog? Yes, but I prefer boiled custard.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Probably the bunch of StarWars figures packed in paper towel tubes when I was about 7.
7. Hardest person to buy for? Husband
8. Easiest person to buy for? BabyGirl
9. Do you have a nativity scene? No, but I want one.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Real Mail for relatives, but this year many of you will be getting the email version. Sorry.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? That one's tough. Maybe the movie my Brother-in-law gave us that he'd already opened, watched, and copied off for himself. The movie stunk & I was irritated by the whole mess.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? White Christmas, Elf, Holiday Inn, The Muppet's Christmas Carrol, Charlie Brown's Christmas
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Most years not until December. This year we started in October.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes. Sort of. We got three hand mixers as wedding gifts. I was using one & set one aside to keep for when the first one burned out. I was going to take back the third when I remembered I was planning on getting one for Busha for Christmas, so she got that one. 11 years later, it's still working.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Comfort food. Mashed potatoes, corn, gravy....
16. Lights on the tree? Yes, especially a lot of colored ones
17. Favorite Christmas song? God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Carol of the Bells, Christmas is Coming, I Wonder as I Wander......
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I'd love to go home, but hate traveling when the weather is bad. The last time we traveled, we had to drive 240 miles home in snow. We've stayed home since #1 Son was born.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, and Rudolph
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel
21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Morning...unless we're celebrating on Christmas Eve entirely.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Toy commercials & crazed shoppers
23. Favorite Ornament theme or color? Hallmark ornaments
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? G'ma M&M's Christmas dinner.

Now we know you a little better!
Geez, make me feel bad. But you are right. I stink at returning memes. Maybe if they came with free dark chocolate and cafe mochas.....
Do you remember those coordinating sweat suits G-ma M&M got us one year. I think yours was mint green and mine was peach. Talk about a memory...
I totally agree that driving in the wintertime is ludicrous. In fact, I have a better idea. Borrow someone's credit card; book a flight to Vancouver; leave the fam at the farm; and join me for Christmas. You get a real tree, an interesting dinner that will hopefully be yummy, the chance to be closer to the North Pole, no responsibility aside from taking care of your own bodily needs, and multiple opportunities to guess the name of our baby.
Speaking of which, do you think it would be very hard to fit something like Rumplestiltskin on the ornament you are making? I can't decide between that and JimBob. And then there's Archibald Belshazzar. That has a ring to it. Yep. Bet nobody would have that name. =)
