Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery. Therefore I refer you to my lovely friend Mrs.X. I stole this from her blog because I do things like that.
Apparently, the National Endowment for the Arts believes that the average American has read only 6 of the books on the list below.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline (or mark in a different color) the books you LOVE - What I love is in Red, what I'm currently reading in Blue, what I've tried to read & failed in Purple.
4) Reprint this list in your blog so we can try and track down these people who’ve read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

I feel pretty good about that. There's a lot of color in that list & quite a few in italics waiting to be read. A few I have no interest in and a few I have not been able to get through. Mr.Dickens & I have yet to be resolved issues. I try every so often but have yet to fall in love with him outside of the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future.
So, how did you do? Husband just said, "Read that list to me & I'll tell you how many of them I've read." To wich I replied, "Uh, none." OK, so he's read The Bible and Animal Farm. He's also read To Kill a Mockingbird, Great Expectations, and some Shakespear all in school. He said he's not counting those. He does argue that Old Yeller isn't on the list & neither is Sounder. He's read both of them. Can we just say, Husband is not a big reader?

I totally knew you would pick up this post! And, my dear, you may plaigarize me anytime.
As for Miss Austen, let's agree to disagree, shall we? :)
And, I see that you italicized Anna Karenina. Let me just say that it is truly one of my favorites because Tolstoy is nothing if not a great gossip writer. He's very earthy and readable. Fabulous book.
I can't wait to get this onto mine!!!!
I'm going to totally snatch this for my book blog, it's cool. I fear I may be one of the people who've only read six, but at least I'll have something to work towards!
