What is this world coming to?

Scattered through this post are pictures of my home. They have no bearing on the post. I simply wanted to give you a glimpse of my world.

I am angry. I am sad. I am also thankful. You see, Busha called me today. Her sister (Aunt B) was robbed. She was the victim of a conman (there were at least 2 people were involved). A man wormed his way into her home & his partner took a good deal of cash while he distracted her. He claimed to be there to check her roof at the insistence of his father. Aunt B had been asleep & was caught by surprise by the whole experience. I'm wondering if they had been watching her for a while as she doesn't normally keep cash on hand & they seemed to know her roof had been worked on recently.

I am so angry that people would do this. Prey on someone's trusting nature. Swindle someone they see as helpless. I am sad that Aunt B now feels horrible for having let this man in her house (something she would never normally have done). I am thankful that she refused to go into the attic with him a second time for fear of what might have happened then.
A few years back, Uncle E & Aunt C's house was robbed in the middle of the day. Cash, jewelry, a VCR, and food was stolen. I kid you not, those people dumped out a garbage can & filled it with food from the freezer in their garage. The worst part about it all? If the same people (total strangers) had shown up at Uncle E's door & said they needed money & food, Uncle E would have given them what they needed or helped them find somewhere to get help. Instead they violated the home of some of the most generous people in this world.
So tonight, I am sad.
The top picture is the mess my boys left in their wake when they came in from "gardening" Sunday evening. We're working hard on not dropping everything in the door way...
The next two pictures are my kitchen. On the right is the view from the north side near the living room door. On the left is the view from the south side from the other end of the kitchen (you can't see the kitchen table in either shot).
The final picture is what you'd see if you ever came in my front door (which no one ever does...we're a side door household).

Tell Busha to tell Aunt B that I'm steamed about this for her...I may have to rant about this on my own place it makes me so mad.

I love that you shared the pics of the house...

I just found the best article in my magazine about what you can do with your lavender...you do have lavender right?
