Another Day, Another Trip to the Hospital

Yesterday I headed back to the hospital to visit with Bucka again. Before I got there he'd been up to stand by his bed & had spent some time setting in his chair. The nurses are pleased with his progress and wanted to move him out of the ICU yesterday, but his blood pressure dropped & they had to put him on meds to regulate it. The nurse told me this morning that he's off it now and as long as he can stay off it, they'll try to move him to a floor room.

I have to say, he's on enough drugs to make him a little funny. Yesterday he told everyone they'd brought him scrambled eggs to eat 4 days in a row so this time he just "sent them back!" That's interesting as he'd only been allowed to eat once since he'd been in the hospital...and only been there 3 days. Later he pointed to his nurse and said, "She gave me a LOT of morphine yesterday!" Since it was a different nurse, we were in doubt. He told her to turn around, looked at her and said, "Well...maybe not her..." He's tried to convince everyone the doctor has said he can go home today (well, yesterday). I told him I doubted they were quite ready to let him go yet and he said, "Nah...I figure they'll keep me 5 more days or so. I figure they were just jokin'." It's hard to tell when he's joking & when it's the pain meds talking.

If all goes well, he may be home by the end of the week. I'm praying that's the case! Everyone's exhausted. Busha is holding up well. She's sleeping & eating, but won't leave the hospital area. They gave us a private waiting room with hide-a-beds in it just off the ICU so she & Uncle Gick have been sleeping there. The family also has 2 rooms at the hospitality suite in the hospital so they can go there to get cleaned up & rest.

I won't get to see him again until he comes home unless there is an emergency. School, home, kids, life in general cannot be put on hold much longer. If I don't grocery shop soon, my kids will be forced to live on leftover Halloween candy...not that they'd mind. And someone has to fold Mt. Laundry. I don't trust Husband with it. Don't get me wrong, he's a talented man. You want a shed built, a your oil changed, or a hog butchered, he's your man. You need your unmentionables folded & put away neatly & your closet arranged, don't ask him.

I had forgotten about the problems that the pain meds cause. Dad had hallucinations, seeing several people in the room with mom when in actuality she was the only one there.

I am SO glad to hear that Bucka's progress is good!!! Lots of hugs and love to you and yours, and remember that you HAVE to rest up for the sake of your munchkins, as well as your folks...

Loving you and praying for continued good news...
