Hot Mama Revolution: What's your theme song?

When I first saw that title I thought, "Wow...that's a tough one. I can't say I have an actual theme song,"but then Sara said this about her theme song:

"The actual message in the lyrics has nothing to do with it, it's just that the beat makes me feel like I can take on the world. It stays in my head all day and keeps a smile on my face. And what mama doesn't look super hot when she is smiling?"

and my song became obvious. I can pretty much guarantee that unless I made you a mix tape in college, or you were a big fan of Seattle-Inde-acoustic-alternative, you've probably never heard it.

I'll post the lyrics, but be warned...there are some drug references & a few curse words. I'll explain more in a bit.

Well she's got pepper in her pantry & she acts so mean,
However twilight on the rise & I can make her sing.
She makes my butter & she bakes my bread.
And, Baby, I like Jane's Addiction, she likes the Dead.
One sock on her left foot, sometimes none at all,
She leaves her clothes on the floor, yeah right where they fall.
She drinks Mary Jane tea and smokes cigarettes,
And she's the finest damn girl I've ever met.

She's my flower, she's my flower child, oh
She may be crazy and she sure is wild, now.
Heavens to Betsy and Mercy mild,
She's my flower, she's my flower child.

Well, she dances like a banshee with a ring through her nose,
And I travel like a Gypsy, she goes where I go.
We swim in rushin' streams naked as the sun.
She tells me when to go to hell and when I'm number one.
Her favorite color's tye-dye and mine is blue,
And she's a real fine talker but she listens too.
I love a lady woman but she's oh so wild,
One thing's for certain she's my flower child.

Flower, she's my flower child, oh
She may be crazy and she sure is wild, now.
Heavens to Betsy and mercy mild,
She's my flower, she's my flower child.

Well the last time I saw her, buy the way,
We were standing on opposite sides of the highway.
I was headed to British Columbia,
She was headed to Mexico, the Baja peninsula.
She said, "I'll see you in a little while,"
Then she was picked up by a hippy van and started to smile.
She waved bye out the back window,
And when I'll see her again, well, I don't know,

'Cause she's my flower, she's my flower child, oh
She may be crazy and she sure is wild, now.
Heavens to Betsy and mercy mild,
She's my flower, she's my flower child.

That's Flower Child by Aunt Betsy (click on the link and go listen if you like...you may have to listen to the entire album, though...I'm not sure). It never fails to make me do a funny little dance and sing at the top of my lungs.

A friend from college played the song for me and my girlfriends one night telling us she was friends with the band and the second verse was actually written about her...something I now think was probably a complete lie, but I can't be sure. All I do know is that I love this song. It makes me happy. It makes me sing. It makes me smile.

Just to clarify, I do not like The Grateful Dead (but I do like Jane's Addiction), I do not smoke, I've never tried Mary Jane tea, I do not now & never have had my nose pierced, never been to the Baja peninsula, I've never been skinny dipping in a stream...but I do often leave my clothes on the floor, right where they fall and probably dance like a banshee (although I've never seen a banshee dance).

Okay, Sadly enough, the one song that gets me grooving EVERY Time is "Flashdance". Would I call it my theme? I'd be embarassed to do so... It's one of those songs, though, when it comes up on my iPod, how could I *NOT* perk up?
