- Change jingling in a pocket reminds me of my dad. He always has a pocket full of change & jiggles it occasionally. This can send my kids into a frenzy, "Pa! Pa! Can we have some money?!"
- A marble rolling pin across dough on the counter top. Oddly enough it has a particular sound & it reminds me of Sunday mornings at Grandma M&M's. She would be rolling out pie crusts when I woke up. She baked them before church so the pies would be ready after lunch. It also reminds me of her making noodles for dinner.
- The sound of Husband's truck in the driveway on snowy or stormy nights. I don't worry about him regularly. He's very capable & I know he can take care of himself, but if the weather is very bad I can't help myself. When I hear the truck pull up our lane, I can fall asleep safely...sometimes before I hear his key in the door.
- BabyGirl singing alone in her room. It can be anything from Amazing Grace to the Star Spangled Banner to James Blunt's Beautiful. She'll belt them out when she thinks no one is listening.
- The heavy, steady breathing of my kids asleep at night. I love the sound of their peace.
- The phone or door bell ringing. I love getting company & I love hearing the voice of someone I love on the other end of the line.
- The stomp of #1 Son's feet across the linoleum in the morning...although it's usually at an hour I've deemed ungodly. He sounds like a baby elephant & often makes me cringe because he's up so early, but I love it.
- BabyGirl telling her brothers stories. Occasionally I'll stumble upon a quite play time in their rooms & she'll be weaving fantastic tales or explaining some life event to them (like last week when she explained the difference between natural birth & a c-section to them...I'm glad they understand it, but it was a tad shocking to hear it from her). They don't often play quietly, so it's a real treat...and her stories are hysterical!
- Busha's laugh. It's loud & contagious. She's scared all my kids (as babies) with her laugh, but I've always loved it.
- The sound of Little BIL sending us an IM. We don't get to talk to him often so it's nice to be surprised.
- My Daddy's whistle. It's different from anyother whistle...I would recognize it anywhere.
- QM's whistle. She whistles through her teeth...I've never been able to do it as loud as she can & it's always fascinated me.
- G'Pa M&M's snore. You'd just have to hear it. It makes me feel comfortable...and very young.
- The racket my mom's brothers make around the dinner table.
- The kids squeals when their dad comes home. "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy's home!!" It's always a cause for celebration.
- HT's grunts. He's always sounded like he had something important to tell you.
- B.B.'s squeaks when he was an infant.
- Bitsy's stretching sounds.
I know there are many more, but this is what comes to me at the moment.
Do you have any favorite sounds?
And just so you don't think Bitsy is the only one who's age is important, the rest of the FarmHands now have their own tickers at the bottom of the page.

Whenever Cynical goes into a deep sleep, his breathing gets very regular and its so soothing.
I also like it when our cat snores. . . just makes me laugh.
Or maybe the wind blowing through our birch tree and rain hitting the roof.
I love the sound of falling water, be it from a shower, a waterfall or a steady rain.
I love my family's laughter and the way we all sound around the dinner table.
I love to hear the dog yawn.. I don't know why but it cracks me up. You'd just to hear it to understand.
I love the sound of piano music
I love bluegrass and very country accents because it reminds me of my dad's side of the family
I love the drum beats of a marching band.. you know the part where they are marching on or off the field and all your hear are the clicks and beats of the drums.. it takes me back to my hs band groupie days and also reminds me of my drummer husband.
