BG- I have a new boyfriend (smiling ear to ear).
FW- Really? Who? (Feeling just a tad depressed but not showing it).
BG- Christian! He gave me a love note today and said he was my new boyfriend.
FW- Well, I that's an interesting way to do it. Usually they ask don't they?
BG- Not this time. It's OK though. He gave me the note and then said we're going to go on dates & then get married.
FW- We may have to talk to your dad about this.
BG- No, it'll be alright. Wanna' see the note?
FW- Sure.
The note is a piece of lined paper folded in half. On one side it says, "To: BabyGirl." Inside it says, "I (heart) BabyGirl." Below that is a picture of Christian giving her a heart & there are about 10 hearts drawn on the opposite side of the card. On the back it says "From:" but he didn't sign it...maybe that way he has plausible deniability.
FW- Wow. That's a nice letter. Is this the first love note you've ever gotten?
BG- Yeah (grinning ear to ear)! (I plan on putting it in her baby book if she ever stops packing it around and reading it to her brothers who couldn't care less.)
FW- You're really happy about this aren't you?
BG- Yes. I really like Christian. He's so funny!
I am a little sad. In the past she's been "in love" but it's always been from a distance. She's claimed boyfriends before, but it's always been more her staking her claim than the boy being a willing participant. At 6 years old aren't boys still supposed to be yucky? But then she does like to play with them on the play ground...But really, the principal should have called me first so I could be prepared for this announcement. It's horrible to have something like this sprung on you in the hall way teeming with kids.
She did reassure me that she's not getting married until she's 16. I told her she ought to finish school first so she's agreed to wait until she's 19. Thank goodness. Now, to break it to Husband gently...

oh man...It doesn't get better oldest is smitten with her boyfriend and he said the "L" word already to her..She's just shy of being 14 (july)
My oldest neice is in looooove right now. And strangely it is with child of a guy with whom my hs sweetheart (dave) was good friends (so I knew and occasionally hung out with) in high school. It is a very odd feeling.
But mostly I wanted to come by and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY FARMWIFE!
