My van is home...although I regretted returning the rental, I'm glad to have mine back. The rental was an '06 Town and Country with dual sliding automatic doors and an automatic lift gate. My Astro isn't that fancy and I have to say I got a little spoiled...oh well.
We missed the chowder. Husband decided to butcher one of the little pigs...remember those cute little things from February? Well, they're not little anymore...more like 150 lbs each and eating us out of house and home. He butchered one and we had a hog roast a couple of weeks ago. By the way, Daddy and Princess, your pork is in my freezer...I forgot to send it home with Mamma.
Saturday Husband decided we needed to do away with one more pig...this little pig stayed home. He's now in my freezer in large pieces awaiting another hog roast when the weather cools off a bit. Oh, and I also have some butterfly pork loins. Yum! But I also have to say I HATE butchering. I must have trimmed 5 lbs of fat off that pig before we could wrap him in freezer paper. I much prefer hauling them down to the meat packing plant and then picking up all the bacon, ham, pork burgers, chops, roasts and what not vacuum packed and stamped with my name. It's much easier.
I need some help. Art and I are working on Princess's baby shower. It'll be sometime in September and we need ideas. We have a theme...or more like themes. We're throwing a Rock 'n' Roll baby shower and we need to include ducks. The theme song is Sweet Child of Mine (not the Sheryl Crow version...Axl would never speak to me again). If you have any input, I'd be most appreciative.
Oh, and Art was in a car accident this morning. I haven't spoken to her yet, but Mamma said Art and the kids are ok. Her van on the other hand was totaled. Please pray for her. She's been having a tough time lately. This is the last thing she needs, but I also know that God is taking care of her and her brood. I thank Him for that.

Glad to see you back and thank you so much for the card. How sweet of you.
Luv the theme for the shower!
Glad to hear your friend is ok.
The only link I can think of so far between the Rock and Roll theme and ducks is that there's a "rock and roll Elmo" and there's a song by Elmo called "Rubber Ducky". I'll keep thinking though. It feels like a challenge, and I do love challenges!
Is that the "Do the Duck" song on Sesame Street. My kids love that song.
I just went to a shower where the hostess sent out little cards ahead of time with the instructions on them to give the new baby advice about the mother. It was intended to be a Roast type thing. It was really cute. Everybody did it and dropped the cards into a basket at the door upon arrival-that way she didn't know who said what unless they wanted to tell her.
You could play Name that Tune. Or Baby Bingo with Rock Songs that are about babies instead of baby items.
For a favor you could make a CD of Mom's favorite rock songs, bonus if they are about babies/kids.
Oh and I know Hot Topic has them but I'm sure lots of other people have them too...rock n roll onesies are popular now. You can get I heart rock n roll, one with a little guitar on it, Hendrix, Ozzy, Greenday... They're cute.
I can't wait to hear what you decide on. Keep us posted!
Ew! I won't even dice my own steak so I pay a couple of bucks more for it per kilo!
Farm Wife! I thought this WHOLE time that your last post was "music to mop by" in April. For some reason the link to your page on my blog is stuck on that?! Anyway, I was just browsing online today (not feeing well) and I ran across this blog that looked 'oh so familiar.' Much to my surprise, it really was you! I am happy at least you have been able to blog randomly! I read all that I have missed- and I am happy to read that your summer seems to be going well! What exactly happened with your internet- if you don't mind me asking? I have been wondering this whole time! Ok, I must run...I need to update my template link to your page and see if I can get it fixed! So glad to run across you again! Take care! M~
