The day we went to Rural King and picked up my oddball chickens and older gentleman was trying to talk me into buying geese. Although I loved the goslings, I didn't want the honking and children chasing that geese are notorious for. Instead I picked out 5 chicks to see what they'd be when they grow up. The Gentleman was in line in front of us when we went to check out.
O.G.-"Did ya' get some geese?"
F.W.-" No, Sir. I decided on these chickens instead."
OG.-"When I was a boy my Granddad raised chickens. One summer money was tight and Granddad didn't have the money to feed them, so he cut in saw dust with their feed to make it last longer."
F.W. (internally)-Oh, those poor chickens.
O,G.-"You know, those chickens laid eggs and when those eggs hatched, I'll be darned if those chicks didn't have wooden legs!"
I laughed so hard! His face just lit up. Baby Girl looked at us like we were both crazy. I asked her if she believed that. She said, "No, Mom. Chickens can't have wooden legs!"
Last night she was rough housing with #1 Son. She pushed him on the floor and they were both sent to set down and cool off. Once I got #1 Son in bed I had a long talk with Baby Girl about being gentle with her brother. I explained that his nose was broken and could get worse if he was hurt again. She just stared at me with a very apathetic look on her face. When I finished my lecture she mumbled, "Who cares? It's just a nose!"
We only have one pup left this morning. It's the pup Husband's 11 year old cousin J picked out. I so hope it makes it. It would break his heart if that pup died. Husband thinks they may have picked up Parvo. I just hope the Danes will be OK. They've had 2 sets of vaccinations each and are due back in this week, and they've been penned up away from Molly and her pups. Here's hoping!
Oh, and Ragged, look in the side bar... I finally finished my list of 100 things including the graphic you made me...all those years ago!

Ok,Ok, so I laughed out loud at the wooden chicken leg joke and I am not ashamed of it. So funny.
Your list is fascinating. Glad you could use the graphic.
