The Umbrella of Death

This is the fabulous new umbrella I got today. I love umbrellas! I had a fabulous yellow umbrella with big brown flowers on it, but the boys destroyed it yesterday. It was very 1972; Very Mrs. Roper. Did would have loved it. I thought of her every time I used it. I was not happy when it was mangled.

#1 Son helped me pick this one out. Our discussion went something like this:
Me: I'm getting a new umbrella which you WILL NOT TOUCH!!!
#1 Son: OK Mommy, get the blue one. It my favorite! (his new word)
Me: If I get this, what will you do to it?
#1 Son: Me WILL NOT TOUCH IT!!!
Me: And what will happen if you do?
#1 Son: Me not know.
Me: (Under my breath) I just may shoot you.
#1 Son: (Loudly) OK Mommy! If Me touch it, you shoot me!!!
This is when I got a horrified look from a Wal-Mart stock woman.

and I was just sharing with my 13 year old charge about the looks you used to get when #1 Son would pronounce a commonly used utensil in his unique way....

just as I'm dealing with the temptation to say that word with gusto, my word verification has "obey" as the first four letters of it.....you think that's God telling me to refrain from needing to have my mouth washed out with soap? =)

I'm so behind in reading your posts...
I couldn't figure out what the title of this post could mean before I read it. The picture is really pretty. Then after I read it I got it...pretty funny stuff!

My Hub's sister called us from Indianapolis and told us how much rain they were having. Your picture of the flood waters is scary, and the story of you falling in the water is even scarier. I was in three floods when I was a child and it's such a horrible feeling to be so helpless against all that water.

I love your duck eggs! You are going to have the best Easter eggs anywhere if they keep laying like that.
