German Measles?!?!?

I've done a little at home diagnosis with the help of Web MD and I think Baby Girl also has Rubella. Yes, she's been vaccinated, but I've had to be re-vaccinated against it twice in the past 15 years. I'm afraid she's her mother's daughter and has also lost her immunity.

The good news is that as long as she's not pregnant, we're in good shape. If she is, well, that's a story for the Weekly World News. It only causes a mild fever and pink rash. It's a viral thing, so there's not much to do but wait it out.

She is feeling better. The fighting has resumed. I promise to try to leave a real post when things settle down. In the meantime, please pray for us.

And kudos to Needlefingers for getting my P.B. reference. I'll have to break that one out for Baby Girl while she's ill. Nothing makes a gal feel better like Miracle Max and some R.O.U.S.'s!

*Later... I just talked to the nurse at the doctor's office. They said the rash can be caused by Strep but just in case it's a reaction, they've changed her antibiotics. Guess the at-home diagnosis isn't all it's cracked up to be. If it was we could all be doctors and then what would the insurance companies do?

*Later... I just got an e-mail message from Web MD. They said Strep accompanied by a rash is Scarlet Fever! Thank the Good Lord for antibiotics. Isn't that what people were always dying from in the Little House on the Prairie books?

Or rheumatic fever. That's the culprit behind Mom's surgery. When she was eight. Good to know all this stuff can slap you in the face later?
