I'm watching The Thing Called Love. I do this when ever I feel homesick. I remember when it was being filmed. It was a pretty big deal in my High School that River Phoenix was making a movie in Nashville. It was his last movie. It's one of those movies that I love that no one's ever seen.
Kyle Davidson: You want me to tell you how I feel about you?
Miranda Presley: Yeah.
Kyle Davidson: Okay, okay. Uh, sometimes you hear a song on the radio and it's just the song you want to hear right then, and then it's over and you're just glad you heard it.
Miranda Presley: And I'm like that song?
Kyle Davidson: No, you're nothing like that song. You're like if that was the only song in the world that I could hear for the rest of my life. You're that song.
I haven't watched it in quite a while. I love watching a movie and thinking, "Hey! I've been there!" Nashville, pre-Batman building.
Miranda was checking into the motel and she and the clerk were discussing her credit card. B.B. starts pointing at the screen and saying, "Jackson! Jackson on dare! Jackson on dat show!" I rewound it and discovered that very quietly, in the background, Jackson by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash was playing. Leave it to my 2 year old to pick it out. Now if only I can get him to sing Lone Star State of Mind.
Now I've a hankerin' for country music, sweet tea, and fried chicken...and peaking in the window of the Wild Horse (even though it's gone...I was never old enough to go in).

I will always be amazed by the way children can hear or see things we don't...anymore...
I'm tempted to think that it maybe comes from the fact that we've been formatted by society in some way, to pay attention to the things that are supposed to matter - for society I mean.
How I love a child's neutral, thrilled and discovering look on the world!
Oh, and I must admit I didn't know anything about that film but that scene... gosh... sure makes me want to see it.
I'll have to check if I can order it somewhere ;-)
The wildhorse is still there... planet hollywood is gone.
Not only a song, Lone Star State of Mind is another one of those good movies no one has ever seen.
I haven't seen that movie in ages.... Sigh. I used to love River Phoenix.
