Fat Tuesday & Doogan the Wonder Dog

B.B. woke up at 6 this morning. He wanted a cup of juice and his penguin and then headed off to bed. I do not normally let him have juice in bed, but since I was up more than an hour during the night with #1 Son coughing, I was a little lax about it. He climbed back in bed and I followed suit. 40 minutes later I heard him yelling in his room. "Hey, #1 Son, it 8 'clock! Hey, it 8 'clock, #1 Son!" I went in and told him to be quiet because his brother needed to sleep and he replied, "Look, Mommy, it 8 'clock!" as he pointed at the digital clock in their room. I said no, it was 6:40 but he was insistent. "Nope, Mommy. It 8 'clock. Yea. 8 'clock. Yea." Just a little Rain Man for that early in the morning.
This afternoon #1 Son drug Doogan out of his sister's closet. I've had Doogan as long as I can remember; since he was taller than I was. I think Uncle Greenteeth gave him to me for my first birthday or something. #1 Son wanted to know why Doogan wouldn't set up straight for him. I said, "Doogan is an old dog, baby. He's almost as old as Mommy." "Wow! That is old. Why is he that old, Mommy?" "Because I got him when I was very little." "Oh. Hey, when BabyGirl is dead, I can have Doogan!" Now that's a cheery thought...
I went to see Doc today. He said everything looked good. Bitsy's heartbeat was good and strong. My weight gain was good and my BP was good. He moves into his new offices this weekend (in a town about 15 minutes south of where he is now), but he's still going to see patients at the hospital where he's been for the past 4 1/2 years. I'm glad. That means we won't have to drive as far for my check-ups.
On the way home from town, it began raining. It's been in the mid 50's the past few days, so the snow is melted, but there's still some ice in the fields. There's a pretty big creek to the East of us and just before the freeze, it had flooded. When it froze, the ice was out of the banks, up the tree trunks, and well out into the surrounding fields. After things began melting, most of the water went down leaving large sheets of ice clinging to trees high above the water line. AS the rain started, a mist rolled across the cracked ice and it looked like something out of a horror movie. I expected Dr.Frankenstein's monster to come stomping through the ice at any moment. I wish I'd have had my camera with me.
By the way, Happy Mardi Gras!

Ah, don't you just love being pregnant when weight gain is GOOD? That's the reason women are happy when they are pregnant; it's not endorphins or hormones etc: it's the reprieve from the tyranny of diets!
