I made Ragged a Valentine's CD in exchange for the one she put together. It was a little late, but she finally got it last week. It's a little eclectic, and not entirely made up of traditional love songs. I took a cue from Ragged and threw in the good, the bad, and the ugly side of love. It's more interesting and less sappy this way!
I think I can break it into 4 categories: The Pursuit, The Good Stuff, The Slightly Twisted, and The End of it All.
There She Goes- The Boo Radleys
At Last- Etta James
In Your Eyes- Peter Gabriel (What girl doesn't want Lloyd Dobbler standing underneath her window in his trench coat holding that giant boom box over his head?! Ah, I can just smell the teenage angst.)
You Oughta Know- Alanis Morrisette
Piece of My Heart- Janis Joplin
Listenin’ to the Radio- Adam Sandler
Let My Love Open the Door- Pete Townsend
Make Someone Happy- Jimmy Durante
I Want a Girl- Weezer (this one can fit into The Pursuit and The End of it All..."And if you see her, tell her it's over," never a good idea to break up by proxy)
Goodbye Earl- The Dixie Chicks (Since "Earl has to die," this is technically a break up song, but it's also The Good Stuff if you think of Mary Anne and Wanda...who oddly remind me of Ang and Farm Fairy)
All You Need is Love- The Beatles (Because really, what more do you need?)
Better Man- Pearl Jam
Rain For the Roses- Craig Morgan
Stranger- The Presidents of the United States of America ("Let's be pals someday...")
Easy- Faith No More (This song makes me want to eat hashbrowns...Scattered, Covered, Smothered, and Diced...Did and I played it repeatedly on the Waffle House juke box.)
Let Me Be the One- Matthew Sweet
Since U Been Gone- Kelly Clarkson
Head Over Feet- Alanis Morrisette (Couldn't leave this out...it's Our song...that is, Husband and me, not Ragged and me.)
When Doves Cry- Quindon Tarver
It’s Not Unusual- Five Iron Frenzy

I'm not tellin' ya where Earl is..He had to go..
It's such a good mix. Thank you. Thank you.
And you know, "Say Anything" is one of my favorite movies. That scene literally makes me weep. So sweet.
I love how Alanis expresses her anger in "You Oughtta Know", she says what I suspect a lot of women have felt.
