Kork and Drew...

The boys are napping. BabyGirl is scribbling on the Magna-Doodle. The dishwasher is churning away. There are 4 Space Bags full of clothes sorted out for H.T. Oh, and I folded more laundry and even hung stuff up!

I just got an email from a girl friend of mine from college. Kork has a little boy I'll call Drew. He'll be 2 in June. The blue is a direct quote from her email.

We had a pretty big scare this weekend...Drew got sick with a cold, so we took him to the doctor, only to be told it was a virus, and to wait it out...well, that afternoon he broke out in a terrible rash, and just got sicker and sicker...by Sunday he was miserable, so we took him to our Urgent Care facility, where the same doctor said "holy cow, that is NOT what I saw on Friday" and after looking at his symptoms told us he thought Drew had Kawasaki Disease, and that we had to take him immediately to Children's Hospital...So we practically flew down the highway, and after 5 hours in the ER, we were admitted.

All the tests came back showing that he had the disease, and they began treatment immediately...he was on an IV for 12 hours and being checked every hour to make sure the medicine was working. After the medicine they had to monitor him for 24 hours. We got home yesterday, and have to have all sorts of follow up appointments over the next 6 weeks.

Basically, its a disease that causes a rash, high fever, swollen cracked lips, swelling in the hands and feet, and cause some long-term heart problems. They did discover, after the medication was done being administered that he has a benign murmur, and a gallop. The murmur is no big deal, but the gallop could cause some huge problems going forward. Please pray that the gallop was only there due to the infection and that it will go away as he heals over the next weeks.

We're housebound for at least 2 weeks until the follow-up with the doctors in Denver, so pray for my sanity, and for an easy time not being able to go anywhere.

Please pray for Kork and Drew and Mr. Z (the husband/daddy). I can only imagine how hard this has to be to deal with.
