Girls' Night Out

I'm still going strong...so far. Slight allergy issues (but that's just part of living in Tennessee...no matter how temporary) but nothing that will really slow me down. *** We spent most of yesterday lounging around the house. As a matter of fact, the kids were still in their pj's when Daddy got home from work yesterday afternoon. Tuesday night he and Mama put up the wading pool for the kids to play in. Yesterday the first thing #1 Son said to me was, "Mama, can I go swimmin' now?" I told him he had to wait for Pa to get home from work. *** #1 Son had an allergic reaction to some bug spray and sun block last week and I've been using a topical steroid to help with the itching. The problem is, it can make him burn pretty badly so we needed to stall until the sun was low in the sky. That's not easy...especially since Pa got home around 3 pm...whoops! *** After dinner they all stripped down and climbed into their swim suits and tore out to their pool. Within minutes all three were taking a 20 yard running start and "jumping" into the pool. By jumping I mean running as fast as they can to the edge of the pool, stopping and stepping over the side. Eventually Baby Girl mastered the actual jump, but I'm not sure #1 Son ever got it totally down. B.B. would tear up to the pool and belly flop on the side of the pool. His top half would go into the water, but his legs would collapse the side of the pool and slide in behind him. It was a riot! *** In the mean time Art came to get me and we headed up to Nashville to pick up Did. About 12 years ago they tried to take me to the Macaroni Grill, but Art's car died on us. Last night we finally finished that trip. It was a blast. We ate good food, talked, and then headed to a cool little bar to finish out our evening. We sat out on the bar's patio and gabbed until Art and I decided we'd better head home before our kids were up and going again. It was so much fun. I haven't been out with the two of them alone in YEARS. Last time we went out I had B.B. with me and I think our after dinner entertainment consisted of Wal-Mart. *** Last night it was just us three again. We told stories about life pre Husbands and kids and fiance...oddly enough I remember much more than they do about that time...hmmm. *** Then Art and I headed home singing RENT all the way. I have missed them! *** Today we're having a cookout with Princess, Axl, Art and her brood, and anyone else who wants to show up...just grab your swimming suit, a bag of chips and head on over! The party's just getting warmed up! *** Oh, and on a side note, B.B. has spent the entire weekend talking on potatoes. He steals them from under the microwave cart and calls people on them. When he's done talking he sets them down and says, "Bye, bye 'tatoes." Forget the toys. This boy just wants produce.

We've always said our kids would be just as happy with the boxes the toys come in as with the toys themselves. They really don't need much.
