Farm Wife in the Big City

It is currently 5:29 am and I am sitting in the hotel lobby in my pj's blogging. Is this wrong? I do not sleep well in beds not my own and have been laying awake since about 4 am. Since Husband and the kids are all sleeping soundly, I thought I'd sneak down for a cup of coffee and a quick chat. Couldn't get dressed without waking everyone...so here I sit. Resplendent in my flannel jammies!

If you're wondering what I'm doing in the hotel lobby can I just remind you that INKLING'S GETTING MARRIED TODAY?!!?!?!?!?!?! I can't believe it's here already. It's going to be beautiful (and hot, but we'll all cope)!

We rolled in a little late to the rehearsal yesterday...hey, you try getting 3 kids up and out the door before 7 am when you have to pack everything you own. Nothing had started yet (not a big surprise as weddings go), so we tried on Baby Girl's flower girl dress in the reception hall while we were waiting. Inkling totally delivered on her promise of a true princess dress for my princess!

Incidentally, on the drive through St.Louis yesterday, my princess informed her father and I that when she is a mother she can go to Kwanza. Not real sure where she got this idea.

We also skipped out on rehearsal a bit early (there was a dinner and a program put on by the grooms men...complete with a skit where one of them wore a red wig and played Inkling) to head to the Zoo. If you've never been, I suggest checking out the St.Louis Zoo. It's free, big, and they have elephants. What more can I say? The kids loved it, and we didn't feel guilty spending only 2 hours there.

Last night Princess (who is the most adorable pregnant woman on the face of the earth) and I went to the "Bachlorette" party. Since it was for Inkling is was not of the stripper and plastic penis variety (I can't believe I just put that word on my blog). It was of the Joe's Crab Shack and chocolate at her friend's house variety.

It was a blast. I got to meet Lulu, Inkling's new niece (she's beautiful!!! 5 weeks old, and has left me with a major case of I-need-a-new-baby). Princess and I ate Calamari and crab legs and we all talked and laughed and gave Inkling enough lingerie to keep Henry David occupied for the majority of their extended honey moon!

This was the first time I had met most of Inkling's friends. They're a riot! I can't wait to see them all again at the wedding...if I don't relapse and fall asleep before then.

Glad to hear you made it there safely. And that all is going well for the wedding so far. I can't wait to hear all about it. Just from her descriptions it sounds like it will be an awsome time. Have fun, stay awake, and hopefully you will sleep better tonight.
