Somedays I'm just not sure what to write. Most days the kids give me lots to talk about, but on occasion we have a rather un-eventful day. I find myself praying for uneventful days. Yesterday was fairly uneventful. We went to church. We came home. That's it. Well, to be fair, Baby Girl had a screaming fit that she hated church and didn't want to go. These fits have begun again in earnest. She had stopped having them last fall, but picked them up again after Christmas. They're frequent (every time we leave the house) and loud and frustrating and mostly seem to revolve around wearing clothes. Baby Girl is a nudist at heart and putting anything on is a major thing with her. She can be pumped to go visit or play or even just leave for school until the underpants go on. Then it's like The Exorcist around here. I keep waiting for her head to spin around and for her to spew pea soup all over the room. It just isn't pretty. I'm at my wits end. Maybe we can hire a live in Nanny and then Baby Girl will never have to leave the house again. Is 4 years old too young to become a hermit?
Oh, and Husband broke out the grill yesterday. I was going to make pork burgers, and he asked if I wanted them cooked on the grill. YEAH!!!!! I should note that this is the only time Husband cooks. I didn't even know the man could cook until we go the grill last year. When we were dating he lived on frozen pizza, TV dinners, turkey sandwiches, peanut butter, and granola bars. No joke. Occasionally he makes potato soup. Now before you start salivating I should explain. Husband's Potato Soup Recipe: peel, dice and cook 3 lbs of potatoes. Drain water and add 2 family size cans of cream of mushroom soup and 1/2 a pond of Velveeta. Heat until cheese melts. Enjoy! (Personally, I don't want to be in the house when he makes it...but then I despise Cream of Mushroom soup.) So when Husband offers to cook out, I jump at the chance. The thing that makes me laugh is when he brings the tray of burgers in the house and asks, "Is there anything else you want me to cook out here while the grill is hot?" As though I keep a stash of meat for the grill hidden in my underwear drawer.
OK, if you're not from Southern Illinois you may have never heard of Pork Burgers. They seem to be indigenous to this region. I'd never heard of them before I moved up here, and when I've told people about them I've gotten blank stares followed by, "Huh?" They're just what they sound like. Ground pork, shaped into patties, and cooked up just like a hamburger. Good! Some time this summer you should check with your local butcher about getting some to try.
#1 Son seems to be having some sort of problem with his diapers. He only wears them to bed now, and 90% of the time, they stay dry. But lately if it's wet the conversation goes something like this:
Me- Bubba (yes, I call him that too), Why did you pee in your diaper instead of telling Mommy? (This always happens after he's been up for a while)
#1 S- Me no peed in it.
Me- Then who did?
#1 S- The Bad Knight.
Me- Why would The Bad Knight pee in your diaper?
#1 S- 'A'cause him have to.
Me- Why?
#1 S- Him tryin' to steal my poop outa my butt.
Me- Why would he want to steal your poop?
#1 S- Him hava' give it to the Good Knight.
Well, who can argue with that? The Good Knight and Bad Knight are frequent visitors to our house. They're from Little Einsteins on The Disney Channel. The Bad Knight makes messes, hits Baby Girl, and does all around bad things. He reminds me of the gremlins that used to live at Bucka and Busha's house when I was little. They're names were 'Not Me,' 'I Don't Know,' and 'I Didn't Do It.'
Luke had to come back in last night. I went out to ask Husband a question and found him sitting in the ground in the dog pen. This is not a place I normally find him. He usually lets the dogs out and runs around with them. Before I got a chance to ask he said, "Come here and look at Luke. He looks bad! I can see all his ribs and his spine!" What? How can that happen? Husband sees the dogs every day. He feeds them their vitamins by hand. Luke hasn't even been outside a full week! How could he have missed this pup loosing a drastic amount of weight? I was instantly irritated, but held my tongue (and I'm glad). Husband said, "He was fine yesterday. Nothing like this. I don't understand!" I don't either, except that Luke has grown at least an inch in the last 4 days! I haven't been out much in the past few days, and this dog has had a major growth spurt. I brought him in, bathed him, and fed him. He's eating just fine. He's acting just fine. We wormed him just to be safe, and the wormer had given him the runs, but that will clear up quickly. I can remember seeing a dog on TV once gain 7 lbs in one day. That's what I'm hoping for. In the mean time, he's been getting treats. A hard boiled egg and pork chop bones last night.
Today looks like it's shaping up to be nice. Husband is off work and Baby Girl has no school. Maybe we'll have an adventure.
Before I quit writing I want to ask you to pray for some of my loved ones. Ms. R lost her mom this weekend. Ms.V was ready to go be with Jesus, and for that we are so very thankful. But her absence will still leave a huge hole in their lives.
My Aunt K had bypass surgery last fall, followed by fluid on the lungs and a bad case of shingles (is there such thing as a good case of shingles?). She has been having a lot of pain lately and the doctors aren't sure what's going on. They think a nerve may have been damaged by the shingles. She just found out she has fluid on her lung again so they're going back in to drain it again this week. If they have to drain it a 3rd time, there could be problems.
A friend of ours, Mr.B, just found out he has a malignant tumor in his bladder. He lost his leg in a motorcycle accident last year, is diabetic, and has heart problems. His body has been through so much lately, that the doctors are afraid it isn't up to fighting this cancer. He goes for surgery on April 3rd.
Finally, My Unkie Di has a small lump in her breast. It's 6 mm, and the first doctor she saw said to wait 6 months and have another mammogram. Just after #1 Son was born Unkie Di found out she had a tumor behind her eye. She had a terrible time with her doctors until she found a fabulous oncologist in Indy. He treated her and that tumor is contained and shrinking. She went to see him for a check-up last week, and took her films of the lump in her breast. She told him what was said about waiting 6 months and he said, "Hell No!" She wanted it out, so he sent her immediately to a surgeon. She has to be in Indy in the morning for surgery. The Surgeon wanted to be sure he had her pathology report back before he leaves on vacation this weekend. Thank the Lord for good doctors!
OK, I take back what I said about yesterday being uneventful.

Do they eat Dried Beef Burgers up there too? That is one of the strange meals DH brought with him to our marriage from his Indianan family. That and spaghetti with chilli over it (yuck. ;)) but I had never had dried beef in my life until I met him. Now I find it to be a once a month purchase. I'm not suprised by the pork burgers. I've been a fan of ground turkey for a while and often look at the ground pork but haven't tried it yet, but with this recommendation I may do so.
Will definately keep your loved ones in our prayers, and also that Baby girl will make peace with her underwear.

I've never had dried beef burgers or pork burgers. Hub had spaghetti with chili over it at a Steak 'N Shake in Indianapolis, but we don't have it around here.
I thought maybe #1 son was talking in some sort of symbolism...bad knight = bad night when the diapers are wet. Then I read on about Little Einsteins. There goes another theory shot down.
Will pray for Mr B, Aunt K, Mrs V, and Unkie D.
