Hurray! A Golden Ticket!
Here's the newest addition to our menagerie. Isn't he sweet? I can't wait until he can come home with us. We just have to think of a good name for his papers... Something with "Luke" in it.
This morning I found another scrap of paper with an address about Great Danes. Before Husband got out of bed, I e-mailed the breeder. He had 2 pups left, 14 weeks old. One black male and one brindle female. They already had their ears cut and He was asking much less than we anticipated. Husband has been looking for a female since we found our male.
He hopped in the car and headed the hour and a half to the breeder's house. When Husband got there he discovered the female pup had a bald ring on her head from the tape to keep her ears erect while they heal. She also had problems with one of her eyes. Husband decided not to take her for fear she would continue to have problems.
The one plus is that he's now against getting our pup's ears cut. I prefer natural ears, but he liked the look of erect ears (goes back to his German Shepard days). The breeder told him some Danes have to keep their ears braced for up to 6 months. That's a lot of work for us and discomfort for the poor dog just for a silhouette.
My folks stopped by today. They had a wedding to attend north of us over the weekend and had spent time at my Paternal Grandparent's house. The kids were thrilled to see them. Grammy went with me to pick up Baby Girl at school. When she came out of her classroom and saw her Grammy her whole face lit up! (Oh, and it was her friend's birthday today. She's been wearing a Barbie party hat all day long.)
Grammy and Pa brought us some new OPI nail polish. Baby Girl got "Italian Love Affair" and in honor of National Urination Week I got "Royal Flush Blush." They're very pink and girlie. We'll have to have girls' day out and wear them!
Pa was looking at a golf magazine and talking to #1 Son about it. It went something like this:
"When you grow up, are you going to go golfing with Pa?"
"Yes."
"I'll have to get you some golf clubs."
"O.K."
"Do you know what golf clubs are for?"
"Yes. They're for swimming with dolphins."
Baby Girl and I are watching Charlie and the chocolate Factory. I love it! I thought it might be a little freighting for her, but she really wanted to watch it with me last night. She told me, "I'm only afraid of monsters, Mom." The night before she was on the back of the couch terrified of The Mask of Zorro (she called him "Zero") but wouldn't stop watching it.
When Charlie found his golden ticket she threw her arms around my neck and yelled, "Hurray! Mom, Charlie Found A Ticket!! Hurray!" and gave me a big kiss. I've never seen her so excited over a movie! And she never did get scared. That's my girl, she'll be a Tim Burton fan in the end!

oh, that puppy is a doll!
And if you make your child a Tim Burton fan, you have done well. : )
An to think for years I have been using golf clubs for something completely different. Maybe I would have better luck using them as #1 son has suggested.
The pup is a cutie.
well....if your last name was the same as ours the pup's name could be that which my number 2 son wishes to name his firstborn, "Luke Sky ------"
Poor Aunt Nita
I love the names on OPI nailpolish! Wouldn't it be cool to have that for a job? I'd have to have some like,
"Blowing Bubbles Blue"
"Pinched Cheek Pink"
or "Forehead Kisses Red".
Willie Wonka scares my least grandson to pieces. I think it's the sound more than anything. I, too, am a Tim Burton fan. Can't wait to see Corpse Bride.
How can you not be happy when he finds the golden ticket. He found the golden ticket!
Sweet, sweet puppy.
I actually liked the Tim Burton version of Willy Wonka while the Gene Wilder version to this day gives me the heeby jeebies. I love the puppy pics, both him and Vader. Very cute.
I love your blog. It keeps me sane during my work day :).
