Hot Tubbin'

I feel human again! B.B. slept last night. Better than he’s slept since he was born. He went down about 9:30, woke up just before 2, lay in bed with me and went right back to sleep. He woke up one more time but just enough to change positions in the bed, and go back to sleep. When he woke up for good a few minutes before 6, I gave him a sippy cup; he lay down, and stayed quiet until the alarm went off. I can’t believe how much better I feel since I got some decent sleep.

I’m still engorged and in pain, but it isn’t as sever as it was yesterday. We may survive this weaning thing after all. And Art, you’re right. I am a little sad. He’s not my baby anymore. He’s a toddler with a sippy cup and an agenda.

B.B. has pulled the card out of the satellite receiver at least 10 times in the past 2 days. It takes the receiver at least 5 minutes to reboot. That can have tragic consequences when you’re missing the last 5 minutes of Dora the Explorer or your favorite Backyardigans song. He’s also been ejecting DVD’s and pulling the input cords out of the TV. He’s not the most popular person today.

I was invited to a sleep over tonight. I think I’ll have to skip out even though it sounds like a blast! When I picked Baby Girl up from school today, I was talking to her best friend’s mother (Miss A). Best Friend and her baby sister are going to spend the night at their grandparents tonight and tomorrow. Miss A was telling me this is the first time they’ll have been away for 2 nights.

Two weeks ago, as we headed out to our cars, Best Friend tells Baby Girl that she can come over to her house and watch Grease. Then she says, “When it’s over we can watch Dirty Dancing!” Miss A looked a little mortified. I couldn’t help but laugh.

The girls came out of class today and Best Friend tells me, “I’m going to stay at Nona’s for 2 nights!” I said I knew that and I hoped she had a good time. Miss A told me most of the excitement stems from the fact that Nona has a hot tub! I said, “That sounds like a lot of fun! Do you think I could go with you to Nona’s tonight?” Best Friend says, “Yeah!” And I told her we could watch Dirty Dancing. She says, “Hey, I like that movie! Then we could watch Grease! But I only have the first one.”

Maybe I’ll find a baby sitter, go hang out in Nona’s hot tub and watch Dirty Dancing after all.

I'm pleased to announce that Did and Zann have joined our odd little cult. Welcome friends! See, purple, just for you, Did. Can I call us the Children of the Corn?
