Fight Night on the Farm

This is "my new puppy Vader" as #1 Son calls him. He'll be 15 years old and #1 Son will still be telling his Pa, "Me got new puppy Vader!" when he talks to him on the phone.

B.B. was up with a fever last night leaving me exhausted this morning. So far today he seems OK. Let's pray he stays that way. No More Strep! No More Strep!

I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's been one long fight all day. As per usual, Baby Girl didn't want to go to school this morning and had to be physically carried out the door. She really likes school. It's the going she doesn't like. I've yet to figure this one out. Today at the bus stop she told me she hated school. When she came home I asked her how it was. "Good!"(said with much enthusiasm) "But I still hate school" (said under her breath).

She was glad to be home and the boys were glad to have her... For about 10 minutes. Then the fights started. The most memorable being that Baby Girl wanted to go to the desert and #1 Son wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese instead. They began screaming at each other about where we were going. Just so you know, the nearest Chuck E. Cheese is about an hour and a half away and the nearest desert is in Arizona! Doubt we'll be going to either one today. I told Baby Girl I doubted she'd make it to the desert since she can't make it the 15 miles to town.

This argument culminated into name calling, screaming, kicking and the like. Mostly on Baby Girl's part. She was eventually banished to her room until her dad was done with his chores and could deal with her. I plan on writing Disney a letter thanking them for the phrases they've added to my children's vocabularies. Like "stupid head" from Lilo and Stitch and "I hate you!" from Finding Nemo.

As Husband came in from his chores, he said, "Is Chuck E. Cheese open through the week or just weekends?" I said it was open week days and he said, " I was thinking about taking a vacation day Tuesday and we could take the kids when Baby Girl gets out of school." I found this very odd and asked why he wanted to take a vacation day Tuesday. He looked at me funny and said, "It's Valentine's Day." You could have knocked me over with a feather.

Husband has only acknowledged Valentine's Day two or three times in our 8 years together. And he never takes vacation unless the weather is conducive to outdoor activities. Not to mention he was outside during the Chuck E. Cheese VS. The Desert debate and missed it all. Now eating pizza at a place full of video games and screaming kids may not sound romantic to you, but it makes me weak in the knees. We may have to fit in a visit to PetSmart while we're at it.

It's oddly quiet here now. The fire is roaring in the fire place, the kids are watching The Nutcracker (Barbie's version, but I can pretend it's ballet), and I'm going to make myself a smore! Maybe this winter thing isn't as bad as I thought. I've been enjoying my Coffee Mate amaretto creamer and decaf Folgers quite a bit this week. I should break out the hot chocolate too.

Oh, and I'm typing with my Royal Blush Flush finger nails. All maybe right in the world after all. I think we may have to watch The Princess Bride next.

To My Poor Aunt Anita's #2 Son I just have to say, "You've fallen prey to one of the classic blunders. The first one is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia,' But only slightly less well known is this: 'Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!" (Gee I hope I got that right. It's been a while) And good luck with that whole Luke Sky...... Hope you find a woman who's willing to let you tag her child with that!

You know a teacher friend of mine actually has a boy in her class named Luke Skywalker Walker. Frightening isn't it? Anyway glad things have calmed. We just got a Chuckey Cheese in town. Sounds wonderfully romantic ;) actually I'd love to go myself but don't see it happening any time soon.
