Something ( I can't imagine what) has inspired me to do a quick critter count and I figured I might as well share it with you. The only question is, "Where to begin!"
Cattle:
1 Cow (probably pregnant)- Tinkerbell
1 Steer- Magnus
Pygmy Goats:
2 Bucks- Cosmo and Timmy
1 Doe (possibly pregnant)- Wanda
Equines:
1 Quarter Horse- Lightning
Poultry:
8 Buff Orpington Chickens (I think 4 hens and 4 roosters)
?- Plymouth Barred Rocks
?- Rhode Island Reds (2 roosters, one named Napoleon)
?- White Rocks (2 roosters, one named Papa Doc)
I think there are a total of 66 Chickens
9 Ducks of questionable pedigree- possibly fawn runners, but 2 are solid white
Hogs:
1 Boar- Two Socks
3 Sows- Bacon (who still isn't doing well), Babe, and one who's name changes frequently
31 piglets- 21 boars, 10 gilts
Dogs:
1 English Springer Spaniel- Molly
1 Beagle- Stripes
1 Labrador- Vader
1 Mini-dachshund- Andrew
2 (as of tomorrow) Great Danes- Aurora, and Luke
Guinea Pigs:
3 Males- Ben, Giraffe, and Alex
Goldfish:
3 poor nameless things
For a grand total of: 128 non-human residents of the funny farm...If my math skills aren't too rusty.
When do we say enough is enough?

Good Grief! I can keep a rooster and three hens' names straight, but I mix up my kids'(the two-legged kind), and there are only five of them- and I've been known to call the cat by the name of one of her predecessors. How in the world do you keep up with all those critter names? My hat is off to you (or would be, if I wore one)!
Poor Napoleon. Will his tail feathers grow back? I'm just wondering....not on account of his vanity, but because a good rooster saddle and herl (at least I think that's what it's called) sure does make some fine looking flies of the fishing variety. Sorry Napoleon, I've got fly fishing on the brain. The season starts in just a few days, and I'm just itching to cast for a trout or two. I don't really want to see you turned into chicken soup.
Okay, this is good as if I show my hubby your numbers he might not insist "honey, this is out of hand" I too have names to remember not as many as you...Plus you have kids!!!! Your my hero!!!!
You can never, ever have too many critters. That is one impressive menagerie!
Roosterhen,
My best friend's mother once called my by their dog's name. And the dog had been dead for almost 10 years!
I call them all by the wrong names on a regular basis. That's why I call everyone "Baby."
At least it was her favorite dog! ;)
I think enough is enough - how exactly does he find time to take care of all those critters, work, and see his family?
