I just put Baby Girl on the bus looking like Cindy Brady... "The youngest one in curls." We set her hair in rags again but this time it came out in little banana curls. Too cute!
One of the G.P.'s has figured out how to get into the upstairs of their cage. It only took a week. I'm not sure they're the sharpest tools in the shed.
Grandma and Bucka got home yesterday! I called to make sure they were in (I'd been on line for a while and knew they should've called already) and Baby Girl immediately said, "Can we go to their house?" She wasn't happy when I said no. I told her not only were Grandma and Bucka too worn out for a visit, but Daddy had our van at work (he had a flat tire on the truck). I told her we'd go see them today or tomorrow.
Inkling called yesterday. She's going to make a day trip to see us on Sunday. I'm excited! There won't be many more chances for this before she's swept off to Vancouver (or there abouts).
When she and Henry David were planning on coming, I was preparing the kids for their visit. Baby Girl asked why Henry David was coming too. I said because he's Inkling's boyfriend. "So? " "Well, they're getting married and she wants us to meet him." "Am I going to be their flower girl?" (She was Inkling's brother's flower girl Aug. Of '04.) "I'm not sure, they may already have a flower girl." "Well, if they need one, I'm good at it." "I know, but it's up to them." "Mommy, are we even invited to this wedding?" "Yes, Baby Girl. We'll definitely be invited." #1 Son- "Yeah! A Wedding! A Wedding!" "Bub, do you even know what a wedding is?" "Yea, it's gettin' married!"
This is the best part of all this. Because Henry David lives so far away, and he's waiting for a specific time to propose, and because he doesn't believe in long engagements, and they're getting married in a pretty big city requiring reservations a good deal in advance, and he wants to surprise Inkling, a wedding is being planned sans the bride. Inkling knows there's going to be a wedding. She knows where. She's working on her dress (it's being made by her, her mother and our grandmother). She just doesn't know when. Her mother (my Aunt D) is making most of the arrangements. Aunt D, Uncle M, and Henry David got together and set a date without Inkling's knowledge. It's beginning to make her a little crazy.
And, Henry David, if you're reading this, surprise parties are fabulous! Surprise weddings, not so much. You try getting there with 3 small kids and no warning! OK, so I know we'll get some warning, but I think Inkling's insanity is contagious. Besides I need time to shop for shoes!

I love that her dress is being made by her mother and grandmother. Love it!
I'll help you shop for shoes. Henry David just doesn't understand the rudiments of accessorizing in a timely manner. Ah well, at least we've got some beautiful silk dupioni (isn't that a fun word? sounds Italian and not Chinese....hmm....) and tulle with lace applique picked out. G-ma's sheet dress prototype fits like a glove. Really, I'd be fine wearing avocado, mustard and white stripes, but your Aunt D (and my mater) feels differently. So, we head to the fabric shops tomorrow to make the official purchase. If we have scraps, Baby Girl gets her own veil to play with.
Ragged,
We are very blessed. Our Grandmother is a seamstress and always made us clothes. When it came time for my wedding she made my dress and now she's making Inklings.
