More Fighting... and Feathers

We've had a rough day so far. After B.B.'s late night I purposely over slept this morning. That meant taking Baby Girl to school instead of putting her on the bus. She was fine with the idea until it came time to leave for school. Suddenly she didn't want to go at all. She cried and whined all the way there. I was afraid I'd have to leave her there mid temper tantrum. She calmed down as soon as she got to class. I asked her teacher if Baby Girl was having problems at school because this is becoming a regular thing (crying when it's time to leave). She said she hadn't noticed anything.

When we went to pick her up, she got upset because I came & not her dad. To add insult to injury, I brought the boys with me. She said she didn't like the boys and told #1 Son she wanted to get rid of him. I told her daddy was doing chores and couldn't get there in time. That made no difference. Instead she fought with her brother all the way home. That can make a 5 mile trip seem more like 25 miles.

By the time we got to the house they were Spider-Man and M.J. That was OK except their dad was the Green Goblin and hadn't been informed of his part in this drama. He was just getting out of the shower when we got home so he headed to the bed room to get dressed. Mid "Save me, Spider-Man!" Spider-Man promptly turned and punched the Green Goblin in the groin. This didn't go over well. M.J. And Spider-Man were promptly sent to their rooms until things cooled off.

I told them their cousin J was coming over after he got out of school. J is 11 and their hero. I should have waited until we were closer to his arrival because this started the barrage of questions. When will he be here? How is he getting here? How long will he stay? Are his sisters coming too? Why is he coming? I told them J wouldn't get here until long after Daddy left for work (this was noon, Husband doesn't leave until 2).

About an hour later Baby Girl came out of her room, saw her dad, and rather dejectedly said, "Mommy, I want Daddy to leave for work now." We tried to explain that Daddy leaving early wouldn't make J get here any faster. Once again it made no difference.

Shortly after all this #1 Son comes into the kitchen and starts digging in the cabinets, opens the fridge repeatedly, and pulls everything he can reach off the counter tops. I told him to go back in his room and play. He said, "Me can't. Me room all fuzzy." I said to go play in his sister's room. "Me can't. Her room all fuzzy." I thought he was playing at something so I put him in the living room and didn't think much of it.

When Husband went to get ready for work he walked back by their rooms. "Oh, you're not going to like this!" he yells. Like what? "Feathers all over the rooms, the beds and the hallway!" They had pulled most of the feathers off Baby Girl's orange feather boa. And not the big "feathery" kind. It was one of the fluffy marbou kind. Her Grammy got it for her for her 1st birthday. We used part of it to make a birthday hat. It was a very nice little boa. Emphasis on the word was.

20 minutes and a lot of vacuuming later, I think I got most of it out of the carpet. But I have the sneaking suspicion I'll be picking orange fuzz off Baby Girl's dress as she heads off to her senior prom.

I'm holding out hope for a peaceful evening... but I won't hold my breath.

Ack! I'm relating in a very specific way to your day. My Boy and Girl decided it would be fun to rip open their bean bag chairs and make it "snow" all over the basement today. It's horrible. HORRIBLE! I haven't gotten to the vacuuming it up part. Because it's everywhere. Basement, stairs, living room, their clothing, my clothing, their eyelashes...

By they way, I read this entry below and couldn't post a comment on it so I'm doing it here...

“They” say never go to bed mad, but “they” aren’t married to Husband.

AMEN.

Sounds similar to a friend's recent experience. She has a new puppy in the house and had a puppy pad down. She turned her back to see her son off to school and upon returning, found the puppy pad in shreds the size of peas. And statically charged, of course.

I feel sorry for the Green Goblin. I hope he recovered quickly.
