I need help

I'm beginning to think this is a loosing battle. Saturday I was folding laundry while watching What Not to Wear on TLC. I love this show. I think I've learned a lot from this show. It's helped me weed out some of the more horrible of my fashion choices from my closet (although you'd never know that by looking at what's left in there). But now I know I haven't done near enough.

BabyGirl was watching the show with me when she turned to me, looked me up and down, and said, "Mommy, you need to go there." Where, Baby? And she pointed to the TV. "They could help you with your clothes." Have I mentioned that she's 6? I mean, really, I dress bad enough that my 6 year old wants me to get a make over?!

Well, I was wearing the highest waisted capri's known to man with a 3 inch cuff on the bottom and one of Husband's old Army camo t-shirts...but I was cleaning the house! I wasn't going out in public. I asked her if it was just that outfit, or did she not like any of my clothes. "You just don't dress very pretty, Mom. Really, that's a boys' shirt. A. BOYS'. SHIRT. You are not a boy, Mom." You don't like any of my clothes? "Sometimes you dress pretty for church...sometimes. But you really should go there and let them get you new clothes. They're good at it."
Stacey and Clinton, please, help me...my daughter says so!

It is really easier than you think to "trend" up your wardrobe. My favorite places to go for cute, comfortable, trendy, and inexpensive clothes are Old Navy and Charlotte Russe. Both have websites and both are amazingly inexpensive. I love Old Navy drawstring khaki pants and flowing knit tops. The tops can be worn over jeans instead of a t-shirt.

I've suffered from the lack of current wardrobe crisis, and I DESPISE spending a ton of money to follow the trends. The best way to perk up your wardrobe, and make yourself feel a little brighter in the process, is to go for the tops.

It really doesn't take a lot of money and it definitely doesn't take a lot of time. And the beauty of mail order? It can be mailed back. And no crowded stores, dressing rooms, trying to try on clothes while keeping the little ones occupied... I love the internet!

(hugs)

I have to second the "go for the tops" advice from the previous poster. I have been feeling the same way lately, with my endless stack of t-shirts and lack of motivation to do anything other than wash my hair.

Hope you feel better soon!

Poor FarmWife...I understand, especially as I was going through my non-maternity wardrobe, and realized that aside from a stack of tee's I bought over last summer from Target, I have NOTHING that is newer than 3 years old.
I do NOT like trends, and refuse to spend my money on something that will only be in for one season...SO, I spend on the classic pieces, and then spend up to a certain $$ amount someplace like ON, Target, or (gasp) Wal-Mart for "disposable" pieces that I know will only be in this year. That way, I can still wear those skirts/pants with some cute "in" tops, and only spend a fraction!
More on my blog about my crazy closet later today...
