There have been a few health scares in my extended family but to my knowledge they've all passed with little real damage. An uncle with possible cancer turned out to only have scar tissue. Another with a possible heart problem turned out to be nothing truly serious. Ups and downs.
Husband found out (on the same day BabyGirl broke her arm last summer) that the company he works for is closing down the gigantic warehouse he's worked in for the past 15 or so years. He would still have a job with them but at an hourly cut and a pay cut. And with the recent changes at C****, it's future doesn't look entirely secure to us. He applied at another local warehouse and survived his first day on the new job yesterday. The new job is with a MAJOR company and the threat of closing will be lifted barring the zombie apocalypse. Ups and downs.
We came home from town on Friday to find Bonpas, our sweet Great Dane, almost dead in the yard. Because it was the first day of shotgun season we feared someone had mistaken her bridled self for a small (very, very small) deer. For the record- If you are not sober you do not belong in the woods with a firearm. End of discussion. After checking for visible wounds and finding none we decided she'd probably been hit by a car. I sat in the house with the FarmHands and sobbed while Husband buried her in the yard and made a cross I later painted her name on. Down.
I'm about to hop on my soap box, so be forewarned. Princess has to work Thursday night. I am not happy about this. Not happy at all.
It's been more than 7 years since I've spent Thanksgiving with my sister. You see, we all travel three hours north of my house to spend Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa M&M. This year everyone can make it with the exceptions of my siblings. I'm not sure why Bubba and Beck aren't going to be there, but Princess won't because she works in retail. In the past she's had to be at work before 5 am on Black Friday. These days she has to be in to help out with the midnight shopping on Thanksgiving day. That means she would miss out on most of Thanksgiving even if we could all travel to her for the day.
I have no problem with people trying to get a good deal. I really have no issue with Black Friday sales as long as people don't get stupid and trample each other again (really- $50 off on a television is not worth someone's life). But I have a real problem with the earlier and earlier shopping hours occurring each year. I have a problem with people not being allowed to have Thanksgiving because they're too busy getting ready to allow others to spend $1.5 billion dollars on stuff we really don't need. Down.
But I just found out that HT hitched a ride with his Grammy and Pa and will be at Thanksgiving with all of us tomorrow. Sad that we won't have Princess, but thrilled that we'll get Mini/Boy Princess in her place. Up.
Hoping your Thanksgiving has more ups than downs.
