Once upon a time I wrote about my hatred of baby socks. I did indeed throw all the mismatched, stretched out, dirty white baby socks away a few days after I wrote that post. I then went out & bought Bitsy little girly cute socks that never get misplaced & are easy to keep track of.
Bitsy, on the other hand, loves her some socks. I mean really loves socks. She'll change her socks 15 times a day if I let her. She will pack around the sock basket lovingly cooing, "Ocks, ocks, ocks."
Big BIL & his wife are foster parents to her sister's baby boy. They brought him home straight from the hospital. We hadn't seen them in about 2 weeks, so SIL brought the baby over for the kids & me to see after school one day. Bitsy was enamoured. There was a real life baby in her house. He slept the entire time, so there was no crying or icky things associated with tiny babies to quell her love for him.
She'd run off to play with the big kids (Big BIL & SIL have 3 kids of their own ranging in ages from 11 1/2 to 5), then run back in to check on, "Bay-BAY." Because we'd been passing around a head cold & her nose was runny, I wouldn't let her touch anything North of his belly. He had on fuzzy blue socks that really captured her attention. She'd pet them softly & whisper, "Ocks. Bay-bay. Ocks," then off she'd scamper.
For the next few days when asked, "Who came to see you?" she'd reply, "Bay-bay." Then I'd ask, "What did Baby have on?" and she'd shout, "OCKS! OCKS!" After a few days, she began leaving Baby out of the equation all together. She started telling me that socks came to see her. I'm not sure if she's given up on the Baby or if she thinks his name is Socks. It's hard to tell with her.
Today we were looking at pictures of Inkling's Grasshopper when Bitsy discovered that he too was wearing socks. "Ocks! Ocks! Bay-bay. Ocks!!" Inkling must be a good Mama if she's letting Grasshopper wear socks at such an early age! Bitsy approves.

You and Bitsy should write a children's book.
